Silicone Probe/Condom Rupture

Thanks for info on your site. I have a question aboutcondoms that I cannot find answered on the internet. How much danger is there of a condom getting sucked into or lost in the anal canal? When broken condoms are discussed in relation to anal use, it seems to be only in the context of STD protection. Yet many sites warn about objects such as broken candles vegetables vibrators etc getting lost in the anus. None even touch on what happens if a condom breaks inside the rectum.

Anal toys like butt plugs or small probes are pleasurable. I prefer silicone for sex toys but it limits the variety available to me. For example, I have not been able to find a silicone anal probe. Even the silicone, however, when used anally, retains an odor not dispelled by washing with soap and water. Sure, I know I could boil it but boiling every time seems extreme. I thought of perhaps using a condom on the plug or probe (which would mean I could use other toy materials than silicone) if I could get condom to fit snugly on the toy. But ... I worry. What if the condom
broke, or the toy popped out but the condom didn't. This would be for self stimulation, no partner, and trying to hold onto the rim of a condom at the anus is out of the question. Even if I could do that, which I cannot, couldn't the condum tear from the rim?

Our answer...

Thanks for visiting our site and asking us. I can understand your concern about something getting stuck inside the rectum, which could pose a risk for a visit to the emergency room.

A condom is different from a lot of things that we have seen in the ER. First, it can break or come off during sex, even if the sex is not rough. A broken condom in the rectum really poses little danger. The reason for this is that other objects such as candles, vegetables, flashlights, light bulbs, etc. get mentioned (yep, you read right - they have all been there), is that they can pose a serious hazard including perforating the rectum or blocking it. In such cases, surgery may be required. A condom, on the other hand, is 'limp' and doesn't really get stuck. If you cannot retrieve it with your fingers, it will pass with the next bowel movement.

As for anal probes...yes, we like them, too. Silicone plugs, dildos etc., are easily cleaned. I haven't noticed any lingering odor. But, you can rinse the toy off and put it in the dishwasher. It is perfectly safe to be washed there. Just a word of advice - wash off any feces before putting it in the dishwasher...just for aesthetics. <G>

If you do want to use a condom over the probe, try unrolling the condom over or around the end of the probe. If that doesn't work or the end has a flange that is too large, try securing the condom with a rubber band.
You can also check a few online stores for toys that might interest you. One source that my partner and I use is Good Vibrations. She and I are lucky in that we live in the Bay Area and can visit the store whenever we want. Their staff is great and they have a lot of toys that you might find pleasurable...alone or with someone.

Again, thanks for asking!
