If I didn't bleed when I had sex, am I still a virgin?

When you lose your  virginity you're supposed to bleed and I did not. The next time I had sex I did not bleed either. So, does that mean that I still have my "cherry"? What does this mean?

Our answer...

Thanks for sending us your question.

The hymen is a membrane at the entrance of the vagina that may narrow or partially cover the vagina. In many women, it stretches from many daily activities such as exercise, riding a bicycle, using a tampon, etc. Not bleeding when you have your first sexual encounter does not indicate anything other than you didn't bleed. This is common.

If your partner was expecting a slight amount of bleeding as proof of your virginity, I am sorry to disappoint him since bleeding or the lack of it does not confirm or refute virginity.

So, does this mean that you still have your cherry? Not a chance! That went away the moment you were penetrated the first time.
