Burning After Sex
Here is another, totally seperate question. In the absence of discharge or of any serious pain, is occassional penile irritation always a sign of some manner of infection. For exaple, if one ejaculates, then urinates shortly thereafter, is it uncommon or troubling for there to be a mild irritation of the penis tip?
Our answer...
In most cases, this really does indicate an infection. In the circumstances that you describe, a low grade infection of the prostate can cause these symptoms after ejaculation. Some culprits that have been implicated in this type of indolent infections include chlamydia and mycoplasma. (As a side note, your female partner may complain of vaginal itching some hours after intercourse in these cases.)
You should mention these symptoms to your family physician or urologist and ask to have your prostate checked. Thanks for asking!
