Female Genital Piercing

Clitoral hood
The clitoral hood piercing puts a ring or barbell through the hood of the clitoris. Most commonly this is a ring with a small ball in the middle of it. The idea of the piercing is that the ring will stimulate the root of the woman’s clitoris and that a small ball on the ring will directly stimulate the clitoris. Sensation from the piercing varies dramatically in different women.

Some piercers do a very deep version of the clitoral hood piercing and call it a triangle piercing. The triangle piercing is done behind the clitoris rather than in front of it. This is considered to be dangerous and many operators will not do this.

If the clitoris is pierced and the patient develops a fibrous tissue in the clitoris, it can literally ruin the woman’s sex life by decreasing if not eliminating sensations from the clitoris.

Labia
Labial piercings are also done. Most of the rings are for decorative purposes only. These piercings may also be used as rings to “lace” the labia together, or even to use one or more small padlocks in “chastity” play. Like scotum piercings in men, there is a high rate of infection.
